Lepota poroka

The image of a man with bread on his head refers to the Yugoslav film "The Beauty of Vice" (1986, directed by Živko Nikolić). The plot of the film revolves around a Balkan custom where a wife caught by her husband in infidelity was subjected to punishment. For the punitive ritual, the wife bakes a large round loaf of bread and then goes to a secluded place with her husband. There, she places the loaf on her head and utters the phrase: "Forgive you, my husband, it is not you who is killing me, but your desecrated bread." After this, the husband kills her with a hammer blow. However, the hero of the film cannot bring himself to kill his wife, drops the hammer, runs into the house, and shoots himself.
The bread on the man's head symbolizes the impossibility of shifting responsibility for one's decisions, actions, and crimes onto another person.
